This build up causes the heat from the sun to be retained inside of our atmosphere thus increase the global temerature. 70 million tons of co2 are being released into the atmosphere daily.At this rate you will see that in the next 50 years that global warming will have caused the polar caps to melt causing an the ocean levels to rise by 20ft.

An example: If all of the ice were to melt in Greenland, ocean levels would rise by 3ft.
